“Winnie’s Midnight Dragon” is about a witch who had a dragon show up at her house.  She kept it, but it set everything on fire.  It chased her cat and was destructive.  Winnie had to get rid of it before it destroyed her house.  First she set a spell so it would breathe butterflies, but then it liked to chase the butterflies.  Next Winnie set a spell so it would breathe like a regular person.  But Winnie still had to find its mother.

Winnie used her powers to find the mother dragon.  She then used her spell to give the dragon its fire breath back and watched the happy mom and dragon fly off together.  Then Winnie and her cat went back to sleep.

I think this book was fun to read. “Winnie’s Midnight Dragon” by Valerie Thomas would be great for kids who like magic and like to laugh.  Winnie had an amusing time with the dragon.
