“What Will I Be When I Grow Up?” is a book about children dreaming about what the future holds for them. One of the passages reads, “Will I be a Doctor or a nurse … and give people medicine to make them feel better? Maybe, but even if I am not … I can cheerfully give others the good news that God’s Word is the best medicine for a troubled heart.” Underneath the illustration is the corresponding verse from Proverbs 17:22.
Cayden: “I think of what I will be when I grow up sometimes. Maybe I will be a fireman, or a policeman, or a builder. I liked when they had Bible verses in the book. I learn some things from the Bible at school. They showed lots of grown-up jobs in the book. I liked when they were playing hopscotch at the end. They have that game on the floor of that one store we go to sometimes.”
Parent’s comments:
“What Will I Be When I Grow Up?” by Susan Snyder takes a popular children’s question and applies scripture to it. The result is a unique book perfect for Christian children. We have read many books showing children future career options but this one I found to be very creative incorporating applicable Bible verses. It flows nicely and makes complete sense. The age level states that it is appropriate for preschool through third grade which I think is appropriate. It may be a little over the younger children’s heads.
