Jordan wanted a yellow hummer for a gift for Christmas. At the Christmas party he peeked and found he had one! He was so excited; he went home to show his grandmother. She offered to help him open it, but without her glasses she couldn’t see and cut the cord. “The Yellow Hummer” has bright, colorful pictures and the story had a great moral to it.
Zoey: “I liked this book. It had bright pictures and was easy to read. I felt sorry for Jordan’s grandma- she was only trying to help. Just like my nana- she can’t see without her glasses. Nanas make mistakes and it makes us mad. I liked that he talked to his grandma and said it was okay. Sometimes we have to tell people we love them and it’s okay that they can’t do everything.”
Zoey’s Nana: This was a great book in that it was colorful, and it had a great moral. Sometimes we have to choose love over material possessions. That’s what Jordan did. Zoey said to me after reading this, “Sometimes I get mad at you cuz you can’t fix everything, but I know you love me and want me to be nice to God and my mom. But sometimes you just make me mad.”
