“The Tutu Ballet” is the story of four forest animals practicing ballet for a recital. They attend class with Ms. Berry, a former prima ballerina. Each animal has one ballet position in which they excel and Ms. Berry has a difficult time trying to get them to perform the same dance step at the same time. Since she can’t seem to get everyone on the same page, she designs a unique recital showcasing each participant’s best talent.
Cayden: “I thought ballet was for girls but I think Fillippo the Fox is a boy. He is dancing like the girl animals but he doesn’t wear a tutu because that would look silly! I liked the bear and how she kicked in the air really high and the one that spun around and got dizzy! They were good dancers. I liked watching them in the pictures.”
Parent’s comments:
I wasn’t sure how Cayden would react to a book called “The Tutu Ballet” but once he saw that there was a boy in it he was okay with it. The illustrations in the book are wonderful and fun to look at and the storyline teaches the great lesson of individuality. “The Tutu Ballet” by Sally O. Lee would be an excellent gift for any child interested in dance!
