Cayden’s comments:
“I like watching the Smurfs on TV. It is an old show. We like old shows. I never read a book that was like this before the whole way through. It is like a comic book. There are three stories in this book, ‘The Purple Smurfs,’ ‘The Flying Smurf,’ and ‘The Smurf and His Neighbors.’ My favorite story was the first one about the purple Smurfs. A fly bit a Smurf and he turned purple. Then he started biting the other Smurfs and they turn purple too. Papa Smurf tries to make a potion to make them turn back to blue. I liked the pictures of the purple Smurfs coming after the blue ones. At the end they had some pages of another Smurf book about a magic flute. That one looks good too.”
Parent’s comments:
I loved the Smurfs when I was younger and was happy to introduce the show to my children when we found it recently on cable. When my son received “The Purple Smurfs” to read he was so excited (as was I). The graphic novel format was new to him and he really enjoyed the stories. We look forward to reading more Smurf comics in the future!
