“In this book, the boy’s mom died. He made a rope out of lots of different colored flowers for her. He was really sad when he thought about his mom. He made the rope of flowers really, really, really, really long and then threw it up in the air to make a ladder to go where the angels are. It kind of was like ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ because he climbed up it. His mom was a dragon when he found her. I liked the picture of him riding on the dragon in the air. This book was kind of sad though.”
Parent’s comments:
“The Enchanted Rope” would be a wonderful book for a child who is grieving the loss of a loved one. In a very creative way, the book shows that even though someone dies a child can still have a connection to that person.
