“The Dyno Dinosaur Family Presents: Waves of Kindness” by Sharida McKenzie is about learning how you can do good and make a difference in the world no matter what age. Mom and Dad dinosaur always ask Sister Dyno every night what she did to make the world a better place that day. Being little can make it seem like you can’t do much, but mama dyno taught sister about waves of kindness. With each new, nice thing that someone does for another person, then a wave of kindness is made and with each one it makes the world a better place for everyone.

It is easy to make waves of kindness, even when you are little; turning off the water when you’re washing your hands or brushing your teeth, helping your friend pick up when you’re playing at their house, and just being nice and helpful to others and your family will all make waves of kindness around you, making those people want to be nice to others, too. Including people in your activities, saying thank you, watching out for others, sharing, and caring, are other ways of making waves of kindness.

Even though I am little, I know I can do the things in the book and help other people, and then they’ll want to help me and be my friend. I liked the story because it shows people being nice to each other, and the pictures were fun to look at.

A Note from Mom: Lydia really enjoyed this story, and I enjoyed having another way of showing her the little things she can do at her age to help out kids her own age and older. I saw that this is maybe the second book in the Dyno Dinosaur Family series, so we’ll be interested in reading the other and any more to come. I’d recommend this book to kids of any age as it as an important message to be understood as soon as they are able.
