There is almost nothing better than receiving an official college acceptance letter from the school of your dreams. In “The College Admissions Blueprint: 9 Proven Steps from Application to Acceptance” author A.Y. Shih, MD concisely lays out the steps needed to achieve this life-changing moment. Throughout the book, the author fills each section with an abundance of information including methods to achieving classroom, extracurricular activity, and standardized test success.
In addition, the book provides guidance on the preferred personal statement formatting and offers suggestions on obtaining letters of recommendation that are sure to secure your desk at any college. The author goes further by including step-by-step instructions on how to achieve a powerful handshake that makes a lasting impression, and effective interview skills and steps.
I feel it is important to read this book early on in your high school career, as this blueprint provides a vast overview of tips that apply to your daily life as a high school student, increasing your chances of college acceptance in the future. I thank A.Y. Shih for writing this book, as applying for college can be a long and daunting process for any high school student.
Furthermore, I would have appreciated this book during my schooling. It is a succinct tool that will propel any student forward in their high school career, and I encourage the author to make connections with school boards to get this book to students at the beginning of their high school career. I think in doing this, students will learn from “The College Admissions Blueprint,” aiding them not only in getting into college but also in their studies in general.
I commend the author for the diction used throughout the book. In addition, the formatting allowed me to easily locate information in the book when needed.
Overall, I find “The College Admissions Blueprint: 9 Proven Steps from Application to Acceptance” by A.Y. Shih, MD to be a worthwhile tool, and I recommend it to any student, or parent of a student, interested in applying to college in the future. This book is easy to understand and gets the message across seamlessly, with a straight-to-the-point approach. Therefore, I feel that A.Y. Shih fulfilled the purpose of this publication and is sure to help readers on their path to success in academics and even in life.
