In “The Berenstain Bears: Play a Good Game” Brother and Sister Bear are excited because it is fall and fall means that it is time for soccer season to start! The coach of their team is Papa Bear and their team name is the Rockets. Both Brother and Sister had their strong points and truly enjoyed playing the game. They don’t really worry much about winning the game. However, today they were playing the Steamrollers who had a completely different outlook on the game. The Steamrollers played to win and didn’t care how they did it.
Cayden: “I liked that they were playing soccer. I played soccer before but I never saw anyone hit the ball with their head like Sister Bear does. I like that the Rockets were a nice team but the Steamrollers were bullies and knocked people over. They weren’t very nice. I liked when the lady came on the field at the end and told them that that wasn’t nice to be like that and then they played nicer. “
Parent’s comments:
“The Berenstain Bears: Play a Good Game” teaches a great lesson in sportsmanship. My son enjoyed the illustrations and the storyline. At the end of the book there are activities and questions to do with your child which help to reinforce the lessons being taught. We are looking forward to our next visit to Bear Country!
