“The Berenstain Bears and the Golden Rule” by Mike Berenstain is a book about the importance of treating other people nicely.  In the story a new girl comes to the BearCountrySchool.  Nobody plays with her because she has pigtails, funky glasses, plain-old braces and clothes that nobody considers cool.  Then Sister Bear remembers how Queenie used to leave her out and tease her about her clothes and hair bow.  So Sister Bear decides to invite her to play and has a lot of fun.

I was disappointed that there was no poem in the front of the book like in most Berenstain Bears books.  There are some activities in the back of the book that I enjoyed.  One of the activities is to talk about a time that someone treated you in a way you didn’t like.  Another activity is to draw a hopscotch frame with chalk and play it with a friend.

I would recommend “The Berenstain Bears and the Golden Rule” by Mike Berenstain to people who like being nice.  I would also recommend this book for people who are mean and need to learn how to be nice.
