Cayden: “There are pictures of a family in the front of this book. It says who everyone is. The boy’s name is Jarrell and he likes to eat lots of things with sugar in them. He likes candy, pie, cake, cookies, and other things. His mom always gives him healthy things like vegetables though. One day he finds out what happens when he eats too much sugar stuff. I like sugar things too, but I eat lots of vegetables. I liked all of the pictures off sweet things in the book.”
Parent’s comments:
“The Andersuns: Jarrell’s Sweet Tooth” is a fun look at a typical boy who loves sweets. There were some parts of the book that were a little confusing though. There was a part where Jarrell dreamed that he was getting all kinds of sweets for breakfast, ate them, didn’t feel good and went back to bed. Then, immediately after that he once again dreamed that there were sweets on the breakfast table. It was kind of odd to have that twice in a row. Overall though, my son could relate to the book and we enjoyed the catchy song at the end.
