Do you know what its like to be a 10-year-old girl and have no idea about what is happening in the world around you? Sydney Clair is a girl that lives in Texas with her family and hears about all the changes happening in the world. She doesn’t know what to make of it all. There is so much fighting between blacks and whites, Women do not have all the same privileges that men do, why is that? The year is 1965, and as soon as changes are made, there is more to follow.
I found this book to be very interesting. It’s written from a young girl’s outlook on what she sees and how she thinks it will affect her. I know that I will be learning about all the civil rights and women’s rights movements in history class in school. This book allows me to learn about history yet be entertained with a story about a young girl and the challenges of growing up being a follower of God. Sometimes it’s hard to realize that God is directing all the changes in my life and they are actually for my good. “Sydney Clair’s Season of Change” by Pam Davis is the second book I’ve read in the “Girls ‘n Grace” books and I’m looking forward to more books in this series.
