Something About Alexaby Leanne Hockley takes readers back to Forks, Washington (yes folks, back to “Twilight” country) and I must say I did not expect to enjoy the book as much as I did. While I expected we were about to head into another vampire (since the main character is a dead ringer for Edward Cullen) and werewolf story, I ended up completely stunned by the storyline and the writing in this book.

Jayden James has lived in Forks for all of his 17 years. While it can be an exhausting place to be, given the success of the “Twilight” stories and the town’s annual Forever Twilight in Forks Festival, Jayden finds the woods in the town to be his escape and he loves it there. Being in the woods means no one mistakes him for the star of the “Twilight” movies, he can avoid his alcoholic mother, and he can avoid the boy in town who bullies him relentlessly. The woods are Jayden’s refuge from his life and all the problems in it. The woods are also the place where he first sees Alexa, the new girl in school.

Unfortunately, Jayden’s woods have also just become a place where murders are happening. As Alexa and Jayden learn more about each other and fall in love they must also deal with the recent deaths in the town of Forks and what is really going on. Jayden is worried about his own episodes that cause him to think he may have a dark side he does not know about or understand.

The mysterious Alexa has her own concerns about her past and the person she really is now. Add in Alexa’s very mysterious parents and one of Jayden’s closest friends who seems to have a lot of his own secrets, and readers are given a very interesting and scary new look at the town of Forks. What is really happening and how will it end?  That is something you will have to read the book to understand but I assure you it is definitely worth the ride.

Author Leanne Hockley has given her readers an absolutely captivating, mysterious, and well-written story that will grab you from the first page and will not let go. It is filled with suspense, science, romance, and murder and will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The twists and turns in this story that lead to the incredible and unexpected conclusion are amazing. In addition, the descriptive writing by this author is fabulous and makes the reader feel like they are there, whether it is in the middle of the woods in Forks or on the beach near town smelling the ocean and hanging out.

Something About Alexais a uniquely different and completely mesmerizing novel that will keep every reader guessing until the very end and I highly recommend it to everyone, whether you are a “Twilight” fan or not. With an amazing storyline and completely captivating characters, I assure you this is one that should not be missed. I cannot wait to see what comes next for Jayden and the others.
