“Sadie’s Sore Throat” begins with Sadie the giraffe beading necklaces for the school fair.  When she doesn’t finish her snack her mother is concerned that she may be sick.  Sadie tells her mom that it hurts to swallow and that her stomach hurts.  Her mom takes her to see Dr. Hippo who determines that she has strep throat and puts her on antibiotics.  She gets better just in time for the fair.

Cayden:  “Why does she have a tummy ache?”

Max:  “Sick!”

Cayden:  “Why does she take her temperature in her mouth?  We take ours in our ear.”

Cayden:  “I’ve never heard of purple polka dot popsicles before!”

Cayden:  “Why doesn’t she want to go to the doctor?”

Max:  “Go!”

Cayden:  “Why would they see butterflies in her ears?”

Cayden:  When they are reading another Dr. Hippo book in the waiting room:  “We have that book too!!  Look mom!  It’s the same one we have!”

Max:  “Stickers!”

Cayden:  “We get stickers at the doctor’s office too Max.”

Cayden:  “Yum!  I like ice cream!”

Cayden:  “My favorite part of the book was when she was in the doctor’s office and they were checking her ears, belly and throat.  Her throat was the most important job of all for the doctor because it doesn’t feel good and she couldn’t swallow anything.”
