When everyone thinks about Santa on Christmas Eve, they think of the red sleigh, a big bag of gifts for all the girls and boys of the world, and always being pulled by eight reindeer. Well “Reindolphins: A Christmas Tale” by Kevin Brougher is just a little different. There is still the red sleigh and big bag of gifts, but this time Santa’s reindeer are sick with the chicken pox and he needs help pulling his sleigh or Christmas will have to be postponed.
I thought it was really funny watching the different animals try out for Santa’s reindeer job. I think the funniest one was when Santa tried to use elephants. That did not go over so well, because they were too big and fell off the roof. And the worse one was when he used skunks, I can only imagine how bad that had to smell. The strangest of all was when Santa used a python to pull his sleigh. That really looked weird and almost creepy, as I really don’t like snakes. But it was fun reading about all the animals that tried to help Santa.
I liked the animals Santa picked, they looked graceful swimming through the sky. I think Sea Horses would have been neat too, but Reindolphins sounds more like a Christmas name.
I really had fun reading “Reindolphins: A Christmas Tale” by Kevin Brougher. It was a Christmas story that had a very different view on how Santa could deliver presents, without the help of his reindeer. I think this is a great book for the holidays. The book is made really nice and the pictures are very different. I think kids will like looking through all the pictures and finding out what animal Santa chooses to help him for Christmas. I read the book to my little brother and he liked how the story had rhyming words, and had fun looking at all the different animals and Santa’s elves. This is a very funny Christmas story, and I am glad I got a chance to read it.
