PLANTS VS. ZOMBIES: SAVE YOUR BRAINS!

“Plants vs. Zombies: Save Your Brains!” by Catherine Hapka is an adventure with Zombies and a guy named Crazy Dave. The story is a brief description of the game “Plants vs. Zombies” and how to defend yourself with plants. I have played the game and the book is a step by step guide on how to keep safe from a zombie attack. There are several different zombies, each with different abilities and strengths and you can only use certain plants to kill them.
Alyvia was able to read the text with help but Eliana was a little scared of the pictures and the story line about how the zombies wanted to eat your brains. I would not recommend this as a bedtime story. There are things like potato mines and all kinds of peashooters. And if you encounter pirate zombies you can use a snap dragon plant that spits fire. Then there are the mummy zombies which can be dealt with using a bonk choy plant. You might also come up against a bungee zombie or a catapult zombie, just to name a few, until you meet the biggest zombie of them all.
“Plants vs. Zombies: Save Your Brains!” by Catherine Hapka, is a high-interest story for developing readers. I would recommend this story for the ages of 6 and up because of the slightly graphic pictures of zombies and the parts about zombies eating brains.
