“Pedro’s Burro” is an “I Can Read!” Shared Reading Book and is designed for emergent readers.  In the story, Pedro and Papa go to the market to buy a burro that will help them to pull and to carry.  There are so many choices when they get to the market.  How will they find the right burro to suit their needs?

Cayden:  “I liked when they went shopping for a burro.  They needed one to pull and to carry things.  It was funny when that one burro pulled on his shirt and then carried a basket of flowers.  I am glad they picked that one!  He was a nice one.”

Parent’s comments:
“Pedro’s Burro” by Alyssa Satin Capucilli is a wonderful selection from the “I Can Read!” series of books.  There is a lot of word repetition which is very helpful in teaching young children how to read.  Cayden started to recognize many words throughout the books such as “help,” “pull,” “carry,” and “burro.”  The story was interesting and engaging and the illustrations were very entertaining.  This is a great book for a beginning reader!
