“Nickerbacher: The Funniest Dragon” by Terry John Barto is the story of a dragon named Nickerbacher, who had to take care of the Princess and scare those who came near the castle. That is what his dad told him to do; but instead he was always trying to make fun of things and tell jokes to make people laugh. His dad was not very happy about it and was always checking on him to make sure he was the best guard for the Princess. One day a Prince came to look for the princess and stood on-guard with his sword in front of Nickerbacher; who just made fun of his name and his pants instead of fighting. The prince did not understand why Nickerbacher acted differently so he lowered his sword and asked him “Is that all what you are doing?” Nickerbacher roared, and breathed out a stream of fire to the trees. The Prince was not scared and wanted to fight for the Princess, but Nickerbacher was still trying to make the Prince laugh by calling him Prince Fancypants. When Nickerbacher asked the Prince if he thought he was funny the Prince told him what really is important is what you think or feel on the inside.
I liked “Nickerbacher: The Funniest Dragon” by Terry John Barto very much, because you shouldn’t let other people tell you what to do. You can do whatever you want and be yourself. Never let other people make fun of you. You can be happy or silly. Just be you. You can do it!
