This is a very good and happy book with one sad part. I did not like when Clara’s brother took the nutcracker from her and his head fell off! This made me very sad. My favorite part of the book is when the nutcracker turns into a prince and is wearing the king’s crown on his head. This is also my favorite picture. I also liked the part of the story when they went to see the Sugar Plum Fairy. I liked all the candy and dancing in the pictures. The pictures are all very nice and pretty.
Parent Comments:
I wish I would have read this book before I went to see the Nutcracker as a little girl! I honestly didn’t get most of the story at the ballet and have since wanted nothing to do with it! After reading this simplified story, it makes me want to give it a second chance, maybe even take my daughters. Of course, it all makes sense now!
Sophie really enjoyed this story; she was very excited while reading it and while examining all the different things going on in the illustrations in “My First Nutcracker” by Stephanie True Peters.
