“Mom, I Fired the Babysitter!” is about a boy named Alex who doesn’t like his babysitter. He dreams about all of the ways that he could get rid of her like by tying up her hands and feet, or by putting a spider in her drink. At the end of the book there is a reading comprehension worksheet.
Cayden: “I don’t know why Alex didn’t like the babysitter so much. He thought about doing some bad things to her. It was funny when he wanted to put the spider in her cup though and when he wanted to move their house. I liked the pictures in the book.”
Parent’s comments:
My 4-year-old was entertained by “Mom, I Fired the Babysitter!” Since he is already a little bit on the mischievous side hopefully he didn’t pick up any new ideas! While the story is funny, it is a little disjointed. For instance, we didn’t know that Alex had a brother until about halfway through the book. Despite this, and the fact that the book could use a little more editing, the story and the illustrations were humorous and my son enjoyed it. I thought that the reading exercises at the end of the book were a nice added touch.
