This is a story about weird teachers and students who want out of the class no matter what.
Zoey:
“I didn’t like this book. It scared me. My teachers are always nice and I think the author was trying to be funny. But I have enough to be scared about. Some will like this I didn’t. I don’t like to hear bad things or kids having trouble in school. I want school to be fun and not scary. I told my Nana I didn’t want to read it anymore cuz I didn’t like it. I like books to be fun, interesting and not like this book.”
Nana:
Zoey only read to the middle of the book. She couldn’t understand what the author was saying and she didn’t like how they portrayed the teachers. She doesn’t like scary books and anything that is negative. I realize that there are some who will love this book, Miss Mary Is Scary! – I’m thinking older kids. I think it scares kids about their teachers. But for a 6-year-old starting first grade this wasn’t the best choice for her.
