Hi Sarah, Welcome to Reader Views Kids, we’re delighted to talk to you today! Tell us a bit about Let Your Inner Golden Sparkle Shine.

It’s a journey guided by the light of my inner child that will help support your kids as they face life’s everyday challenges.

Little Vie is an adventurous girl who is not afraid of a little dirt! In her adventures, she experiences all kinds of new things like talent shows, a new little sibling, big scary storms and more. When things get tough on the outside, Little Vie chooses to dig deep inside herself to hear the “thump thump thump” of her heart so that her inner golden sparkle shines so bright!

It’s through this conscious connection to our inner light that Little Vie can overcome ANY obstacle with grace, and glittery rain boots – of course!

What was your inspiration behind the story?

The inspiration for my little gem was a celebration of my inner child. After years of healing her I wanted to celebrate this new relationship. Little Vie is actually me when I was 6 years old that my illustrator made her come to life.

Tell us about Little Vie. What motivates her in the story?

As above, Little Vie is the essence of who I was before all the limited programming I experienced in my childhood. She is full of fun, love and creativity that she wants all children to recognise in themselves.

What is our inner golden sparkle and how can we help it shine?

Our inner golden sparkle exists in all of us. It is the energy of our true selves that we are born with. We allow the light to be even brighter by healing and releasing that old energy that never belonged to us in the first place.

Many young children have a natural confidence that just comes with the innocence of toddlerhood, only to become more shy and uncertain as they get older. What is the best age to instill self-worth in a child and how can we prevent them from losing that confidence?

I would have to answer that by saying the more adults heal themselves the more we heal our children. When we have lost our inner sparkle it is difficult to teach our children how to find theirs. I love the story of the Golden Buddha. The cement that covers our inner golden sparkle is what we get to chip away,  revealing the solid gold that exists in all of us.

Though Let Your Inner Golden Sparkle Shine is a children’s book, it’s a great reminder for adults. How did you ensure the book was both entertaining and educational for all ages?

I wrote it for parents to remember that we are all returning back to our birthright energy. I believe that the mantra helps us connect to our true selves no matter what age. Whenever I feel out of my alignment I repeat the book mantra over and over to myself. Its my inner therapy!

What do you think sets Let Your Inner Golden Sparkle Shine apart from other children’s books?

I haven’t come across other books that have such an impactful message in such a short book. Yes it is repetitive, but it makes a big impact when we repeat a verse over and over to ourselves. Also, this is such a need for children of all ages. Teaching them that whatever they need is already within them.

How have you seen the book impact children?

On a weekly basis, I hear from mothers about how their children love my book. They repeat the mantra before going to bed. AT my book signings , I give a golden battery candle for the children to turn on before bed  and when they wake up in the morning they will remember their inner golden sparkle. I just had a mom email me and telling me a story that her daughter, Sophia, has turned on her candle every single night for the past 2 months

What are some of the positive messages you hope to convey through the book?

SO manyThe one main positive message is about always knowing that what we search for on the outside is already within us. The only thing we need to do is connect to our heart and there we are.

How did you find your illustrator?

She was introduced to me by my former publisher. We worked closely to bring this book to life.

What was it like working together with your illustrator to bring your story to life?

She was amazing!!! She really got my vision and how to bring Little Vie to life.

What is the biggest challenge writing for a young audience?

I don’t reallyfeel any challenges with younger audiences. They are like sponges when it comes to learning and teaching something new.

What do you like to read and what are some of your favorite children’s books authors and stories?

I have always loved Where the Wild Things Are, Winnie the Pooh. So many hidden messages in these stories.

Which writers have inspired your own work as an author?

My favorite writers and spiritual mentors and writers are Tosha Silver, Deepok Chopra, Pema Chodrin. I am so interested and inspired by leaders of change.

What do you enjoy outside of writing?

Traveling is my favorite experience. My best writing comes when I am visiting a new country or a new part of the world. I love to exercise , be in nature, be with like minded and inspiring people and go to bed at 8pm.

Do you have a website where readers can learn more about you and your works? (share if you have activities/resources on the website they can download, etc.)

Yes, of course. My website is sarahvie.com and I have 3 gorgeous gifts awaiting everyone at sarahvie.com/magnet

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received, about writing or about life in general?

Best advice I have ever received is, “Do only things that bring you joy!” That is how I will continue to live my life. In Joy is ease and flow.

Do you have any advice for aspiring/emerging picture book authors?

The only time you fail is by not doing something. I told myself I couldn’t write so I didnt. Now that I don’t believe those old limited stories I am about to release my third memoir. Don’t believe a story if it is limited.

So, what’s next for you? Will we see Little Vie in more adventures?

Yes. I have another manuscript written. So Little Vie is not finished. I have a vision to create an animation with her in the future. I have a new grown up memoir about to launch this year. It’s my third book. I am traveling to Paris in June for a book signing and my books will be translated into French.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

I am now renting my beach house for writers to come and write. I live a block from the beach and my home is restorative and has always been a place of inspiration for me. If there are any writing groups that need a quiet place to experience their work they can email me for more information and photographs.

Also thank you so much for all of your wonderful questions
