“Mark the Little Minus Sign” by Linda C. Garret is a story is about a minus sign called Mark, who was going to his first day of school, and was afraid because he only has one friend, named Zero.

His journey at school started when he was in the classroom, and Mark sat beside Little Miss One. The teacher asked the class to tell everyone their talent, and Mark was so afraid that he couldn’t think. It was soon his turn but the recess bell saved him. Mark thought and thought but he had no idea what his talent was, or what to say.

On the bus or at recess, nothing would help him to have new friends. The class had an assignment from Miss Story, who told them, use your imagination, and create your story. Then she showed them a blank book. Mark closed his eyes and started imagining and creating his own story.

I liked how imagining will help you discover a lot of things. I loved how Mark, using his imagination, wrote his own story looking for what he most wanted. “Mark the Little Minus Sign” by Linda C. Garret is a good story! I liked the backward messages on most of the pages and the pictures.
