“Magic of the Frogs” by J. J. Marro is a very good fairy tale about a community of frogs fighting off an evil wizard and his snakes. Bastion, who always wore a cape and sword, was a very likeable frog. It was his job to patrol the pond for dangers. One day Bastion heard something crying on a lily pad in the pond. It was pink and winged, and he had never seen anything like it. He asked the creature what was going on. It hid behind the flower but then poked its head back out. She was an imp named Larien. She had an important message for Bastion which would change the life of the frogs forever.

The secret that the imp revealed was hard to believe, but later Bastion would believe it all too well. Long ago there was a good wizard and a bad wizard who battled. To protect the good free people from the still-lurking evil wizard, the good wizard Melena turned the townspeople into frogs so the evil one could not find them. The frogs had no memory of what had happened before. But a traitor among the townspeople has led the evil one to the town. Who is the traitor? Can they defeat the evil wizard Draqur and his snakes? Will they survive?

This book was action-packed and adventuresome. There were a couple funny parts, and the characters (except the bad ones) were very likeable. It is not a very long book, but “Magic of the Frogs” is very entertaining. I think all ages would enjoy this fairy tale.
