“Long Ago One December…” by Alicia M. McLain & Charles G. Menk III, is a story about a boy named Nathan who believed in Santa. One day he was in the cafeteria and heard other kids say that Santa was not real. Those kids comments kept Nathan thinking and he had many questions for his dad.

That night he asked his dad, “Is Santa the one who puts the presents under the tree?” His dad told him, “Well son, have you heard of Saint Nick?” Then his dad told him the story of “a night, a child, and a star.” It was still hard for Nathan to be clear. The next day he went to the mall for a walk with his mom and sister and they saw Santa. His mom said, “Let’s get a picture with Santa.” Nathan didn’t want to and he begged his mom, but she said yes. Nathan walked up and said, “Santa is a lie.” Then Santa told him the real story about God, “Long Ago One December…”

I invite you to join Nathan to learn about God and the real meaning of Christmas. I love this story so much. It tells you the story about Bethlehem and the story of God. This would be a good book to read to little kids. It is a nice book and I love the illustrations.

A Note from Paola’s Mom:

“Long Ago One December” by Alicia M. McLain & Charles G. Menk III, is a very nice story. As parents we should never forget the true meaning of Christmas.
