Infant boys have been mysteriously vanishing from Hytanica. Everybody knows it’s the Cokyrians who have been at war with Hytanica for a century. Forty-nine boys are taken but only forty-eight bodies are given back.
Years after the war, Princess Alera must choose a husband before her 18th-birthday. And according to all the limitations set upon her by her father there is only one choice for her husband, Steldor. Steldor is handsome, strong, and extremely pigheaded. Alera doesn’t want to marry Steldor, but it seems she doesn’t have a choice.
Then a Cokyrain boy is found in Hytanica. He is the forty-ninth boy, the one that stayed in Cokyri. His name is Narian, and he teaches Alera that women aren’t just for bearing children and everyone should have a choice in how to live their life. But then just as suddenly as Narian arrives, he disappears – just after learning about his shocking past. Can Alera stop her wedding when her 18th-birthday is edging closer and closer?
“Legacy” by Cayla Kluver is an amazing book and I don’t think I have enough good adjectives to describe how much I loved it. “Legacy” has everything from forbidden love, to a war, to a mysterious legend. You can’t read it without wanting more.
