Grayce: “Why didn’t they say Texas? Did you say just like me? The book was about how every baby is alike but different. One of their dads brought fish for supper – in India. And the grandma brought rice. And in Egypt they brought fruit and candy and the children danced in a circle. In Russia they brought nesting dolls. We have nesting dolls too. My mom told me that she gave birth to me in a hospital and that I lay on her tummy like a kangaroo.”

Parent’s comments: This book, “Just Like You,” was a sweet and gentle way of weaving in my daughter’s own personal birth story and our rituals with the traditions of other cultures around the world. The book covers not only the gifts given in each culture to celebrate a baby’s birth, but also traditional names, language and generational interactions. It’s also a feel-good gift because Zonderkidz supports a non-profit dedicated to fighting poverty with some of the proceeds from sale of the book.
