“How Do You Say Good Night?” is a sweet book that explores the many ways to say goodnight.  For example, the cats in the book say goodnight with “Soft pajamas, soft light, soft pillow, just right.”

Cayden:  “Look that sheep on the cover is going to sleep with a ball.”

Cayden:  “The words in this book rhyme!”

In response to the question “How do you say goodnight?” that is on every page:

Max:  “Goodnight mom!”

Cayden:  “Max, you are funny!  Why are you hugging mom and saying goodnight every time she asks that?  She is reading a story!  She is just saying it; you don’t have to answer her all of the time!”

Cayden:  “That dog is going to sleep with a ball too.”

Max:  “Clock!”

Cayden:  “The clock is smiling!”

Cayden:  “That cat gets cookies before bed??”

Max:  “Yum!”

Cayden:  “Look they read stories before bed like we do!”

Cayden:  “My favorite part was when the stars spell out the word ‘Goodnight’ at the end.”

Parent’s comments:
As you can see from my children’s comments, Max took the question “How do you say goodnight?” literally and felt the need to answer it every time it was asked.  Both liked seeing the different routines that the various animals had before bed and found that we incorporate a lot of the same things into our bedtime routine.  Cayden enjoyed the fact that the book rhymed and loved the illustrations.  “How Do You Say Goodnight?” by Raina Moore is a wonderful bedtime story that any young child will enjoy!
