Favor Johnson (A Christmas Story)
Bunker Hill Publishing (2009)
Reviewed by Madeline McElroy (age 8) for Reader Views (9/09)
This story is about a man named Favor Johnson. He lives with his dog named Hercules, forty cats and bunch of farm animals. Christmas is Favor’s favorite time of year. He enjoys baking fruit cakes for all the people in the village. He and Hercules deliver the goodies together.
Hercules wanders off the farm on Christmas Eve and Favor was scared because he had heard rabbit hunters that night. When he finds Hercules, he has been shot and lying in the snow. This story has a happy ending.
I thought this story of “Favor Johnson” by Willem Lange was pretty slow and not very exciting. I did like the artwork; I thought it was very realistic.
