“Fancy White Trash” is the story of Abby. Abby lives with her two sisters and mom in a trailer. One sister, Shelby who is 21, already has a little girl and the other sister, Kaitlyn, is pregnant. Abby has made up rules about not dating because she doesn’t want to end up like her sisters. Abby then finds out her mom is pregnant by her boyfriend who also may be the father of Kaitlyn’s baby since they dated before he met her mom. Abby describes her life like a soap opera. That is why the book is called “Fancy White Trash.” Abby then falls in love and doesn’t want to break her rules. One of her rules is to not date anyone from her home town because it is small and everyone has dated everyone else. Everyone has dated her sister’s because they are so pretty.
She falls in love with her gay best friend’s brother which is more complicated for her. In the beginning I wasn’t sure if I would like this book. I really liked Abby because she seemed to have a good head on her shoulders — more than her sisters. I liked the romance in the story because it seemed realistic. She learned a good lesson about being a good daughter. If you like books with good writing and about good characters then you will like “Fancy White Trash.”
