“Is this the mommy bird, right here? She looks really old. I love the pictures and in the middle [of the book] when she looks outside and says, ‘another chickadee family for me.’ I like how she sings and rhymes in the story and her three little babies.”
Parent’s Note:
The idea of a little girl watching a chickadee outside her window that then has a family of babies for her to watch too is a wonderful, feel-good story – especially since it came from the author’s real experience. However, the author’s overuse of rhyming words, all ending in “ee” and several of the same words used multiple times, weighed down the story unnecessarily. My daughter enjoyed it, but wasn’t captivated.
