The “Danny the Dinosaur 50th Anniversary Box Set” is all three of the “Danny and the Dinosaur stories.”  Included in this set are “Danny and the Dinosaur,” “Danny and the Dinosaur Go to Camp,” and “Happy Birthday, Danny and the Dinosaur.”  They are all I Can Read! Level 1 Beginning Reading books.

Cayden:  “I like books about dinosaurs!  I think it is cool that the boy got to play with a dinosaur.  Is there a museum here that we can go see one?”

Max:  “Ride on dinosaur! Fun!”

Cayden:  “My favorite book was the first one (“Danny and the Dinosaur”) because it was long and because they had a lot of fun.  My favorite part was when they were playing hide and seek and the dinosaur was too big, then they pretended they didn’t see him to make him feel better.  I liked all of the books though!”

Parent’s comments:
I didn’t realize that the original “Danny the Dinosaur” book was written such a long time ago!  When I told Cayden that it was written when his grandma and grandpa were little like him he thought that was pretty neat and was excited at the thought that maybe they read the same story as children.  Sometimes books written this long ago contain words or phrases that just aren’t used anymore in today’s world but “Danny the Dinosaur” did not seem that “dated” to me.  The only thing that my children questioned was when the lady thanked the dinosaur for helping her to carry her “bundles.”

The “Danny the Dinosaur 50th Anniversary Box” by Syd Hoff would be a wonderful addition to any beginning reader’s bookshelf!
