This book is about a girl named Shine. Shine is a jewelry seller. She makes handmade bracelets, necklaces, and rings. One day her friends Jewel, a legendary horse and Gertrude, Shines talking doll friend, came to visit. When Jewel arrived she had a filly. The filly’s name was Amia. Amia and Shine became good friends. When Shine heard about beautiful gems called, Ice Gems, Shine, Amia, and Gertrude go looking for Ice Gems in the mountains.

Shine rode on Amia almost to the top of the mountain! They decided to stop and look for gems. Gertrude tells Shine that there are special dogs that can find Ice Gems called glow-ball pooches. They use there tail to find the Ice Gems, and when Ice Gems are near, the Ice Gems start to glow. When Shine has no luck finding the Ice Gems, Gertrude decides to go back home but Shine wants to keep looking.

Shine finally decided to give up, and then they heard noises. They rushed to the side of the mountain and see tents, ships, and treasure hunters. Gertrude and Shine went to check it out. When Gertrude gets caught and is kidnapped by treasure hunters, Shine makes a plan to rescue Gertrude. When they get home, Shine’s mom was very scared because they were at the mountains so long.

With the help of a stranger, they may have a chance of finding the gems after all.

I really liked “Bella Sara: Amia and the Ice Gems.” I like the Bella Sara series a lot. They are really fun to read. I want to read all the Bella Sara books!
