In “A Choice” by Sharuthie Ramesh, the main plot is about a 118-year-old girl named Kyra that encounters many challenges but always seems to get through them all. She lives the lavish life of a person of royalty, but must make some rather hard decisions. The author evoked the real emotions of Kyra as I felt that I was experiencing it along with her, and although the story would sometimes veer off, it always came back on track as she experienced twists and turns.
Ramesh, the author, made it feel like I was Kyra, in the sense that I could actually hear and feel what was happening like an illusion, which is really great when adding onto the structure of a story. For a thirteen-year-old, Ramesh writes better than writers that have been doing the same thing for a while.
The book is generally for the age range of 12-16, and is for love and romance with a side of horror fans. I feel like any teen or young adult would enjoy this novel. My favorite part of this book is when Kyra conquered everything that was put towards her as well as how she just kept truckin’ along, although everything just kept getting thrown at her. At first glance, I thought this would be an easy breezy read, but one must focus at all times to be sure not to skip a line.
I found “A Choice” by Sharuthie Ramesh very engaging to the audience that it is targeted towards and rather adventurous in that it would keep any reader on their feet. I hope to read more of her wonderful novels!
