I liked this book, “Eliza’s Cherry Trees: Japan’s Gift to America,” because I like books that really happened.  Eliza lived in Washington, D.C., and was even friends with Abe Lincoln.  He was a president a really long time ago.

She liked to go places and went to different places in the world.  She wrote books about places too.  She wrote the first book for people who were going to Alaska.  She wrote a book about Japan too.  I like Japan.  We sent things to Japan to help the people when they had that earthquake and tsunami.

Eliza likes the cherry trees that are in Japan.  I like them too.  Japan sent a lot of them to Washington, D.C. We looked up pictures on the computer to see if they are still in Washington, D.C. and they are.  They have lots of pink flowers on them.  I think we should get a cherry tree in our yard.  I think that probably not a lot of people know that is how the cherry trees got to Washington D.C.  I do though!, now that I’ve read “Eliza’s Cherry Trees: Japan’s Gift to America.”
