“Let’s Say Hi to Friends Who Fly!” is part of the “Cat the Cat” series of books by Mo Willems.  In this book, the reader is introduced to all of Cat’s flying friends like Bird, Bat, Bee, and one rather unlikely flying friend.

Cayden:  “’Cat the Cat’ books are easy to read.  This is kind of like the first one but it has some different words.  I read this one to my brother too.  I liked when the bat was flying all over in circles.  He looked like he was kind of dizzy!”

Parent’s comments:

Like the first book in the series, “Let’s Say Hi to Friends Who Fly!” by Mo Willems is written very simplistically and is the perfect book for a beginning reader.  There is much repetition throughout.  For instance, the book begins with Cat asking “Can you fly, Bee the Bee?” and then goes on to, “Can you fly, Bird the Bird?”  It is a very basic book, but exciting for new readers who can read it from cover to cover all by themselves!
