“What Lincoln Said” by Sarah L. Thomson is a book about the life of Abraham Lincoln.  It covers how he became President, and what he did while he was the President.  He could fish and build a boat, chop down trees and make fences.  He became a lawyer.  He ran for U.S. Senate twice and lost both times.  He thought that slavery was very bad and promised, as President, to keep slavery out of the new states in the American West.  This made some states want to leave the Union and caused the Civil War. 
  
The words in the story make it clear that Abraham Lincoln was a very good, very important, very smart man.  He even put an end to slavery in the United States.  The illustrations, however, made him seem goofy, silly and not smart.  In some pictures he has a really big head and in other he has a really small head.  His head looks distorted with really big lips and ears.  The other people look alright.

I would recommend “What Lincoln Said” by Sarah L. Thomson to people who like knowing about the history of the Presidents.
