Hip Hip Hurray We Found Teddy!!! & As we recycle and take other steps to protect our environment, we enjoyed the overall message of the book, although I found the playing “in an organized manner” to be a little much at times. I think that it is acceptable for children to be a little messy on occasion. Some of the vocabulary was a little advanced for my son, such as when we learn that Mouse knows “that trees help the environment by moderating climate, improving air quality, conserving water, and harboring wildlife.” Once I reworded some of the statements my children understood better. Cayden: “Why does Mouse need to have everything picked up all of the time? Doesn’t he ever play and have fun? We clean too but everything isn’t always picked up all of the time. We planted lots of trees in our yard. I didn’t know what those words meant when the book said what trees did, but after you told us what they meant then I knew! Some of the other words were hard too. I didn’t know what compost was before this book so that is something I learned. We should do that to use in our garden!” |
