“The Vampire Diaries: Stefan’s Diaries Vol 3: The Craving” is the third book in a series that tells the true story about what happened between Stefan, Damon, and Katherine and how their love triangle began. In this series, Stefan has embraced his humanity and is trying to bury his vampire side, but his brother Damon is doing the exact opposite. Damon has, it seems, given up on his humanity and has now completely embraced his vampire nature. Stefan is slowly trying to incorporate himself back into their human world, without endangering the lives of the humans that he is coming into contact with, while leaving his bloody past behind.

Once again Stefan has moved to a new city, leaving New Orleans for Manhattan, and is trying to disappear into the masses of people to start anew. But once again, his brother shows up and threatens to create havoc. This time, Damon has convinced New York’s society elite that he is an Italian prince. The two brothers then become a huge part of New York elite society and become public figures. However, all this publicity leads to another threat, this time not each other, but an outside threat that will require the both of them to work together (once again) and defeat the threat.

The two brothers, once again, go through the same dance threats. They both claim to hate each other and want nothing more than the other one dead, but in the end they cannot kill each other because at the end of the day, each other is the only family that they each have left. Their familial love is very strong and their sense of family loyalty is also very strong; thus, time and time again, no matter what the other one has done, they still save and rescue each other. The storyline is very intense and immediately draws the reader in and keeps the reader going until the end of the novel.

“The Vampire Diaries: Stefan’s Diaries Vol 3: The Craving” captures the reader’s interest, telling a story that is compelling enough that the reader will pick up the book and read it all the way through. While this story might be confusing for those who have never read the series before, for those who have it is a very thrilling read. All readers of all ages will enjoy this novel but I recommend that the reader reads the previous volumes before embarking on this novel.
