“This Is the Game” takes a look at the history of America’s favorite pastime, baseball.

Max’s comments:

“I liked that the book rhymed and I learned about baseball.  We go to baseball games when it is warm out.  I liked when they played baseball in between the building where the clothes were hanging over them.  There were kids that had baseball cards.  I liked the picture of the man with all of the peanuts.”

Parent’s comments:

While the age range inside the front cover says that the book is for ages 3-8, I think that “This Is the Game” is probably more suited toward the higher end of that range.  There is a lot of history presented in the book surrounding the game of baseball but a lot of the references went right over the head of my 4-1/2-year-old.  He did like the rhyming verses though and enjoyed the illustrations.
