Cayden’s comments:
“This book is about all kinds of things that live in the ancient forest. Ancient means really, really old. The tree that is in this book is 300-years-old. It is huge and has lots and lots of roots that it gets food from the ground. There are mice and owls in the book too, in the forest. The book says the same things on all of the pages but puts new words at the beginning.
My favorite pictures were the ones of the owlets. I liked the part at the end of the book where we could learn more about the animals and things. It said that the tree is a Douglas Fir tree and it can live to be 1000!”
Parent’s comments:
“The Tree in the Ancient Forest” explores the interdependencies of the animals and plants within the forest. I think that this book would be a wonderful one to teach a child the importance of respecting nature.
