“The Emerald Casket” by Richard Newsome is the story of thirteen-year-old Gerald, a young billionaire from England who is swept up in a web of intrigue and riches.  After a previous adventure in England that resulted in a dangerous criminal escaping with a powerful and dangerous artifact, Gerald was ready to sit back and enjoy life as a billionaire.  But life would not let him.  Soon, he was off on an adventure in India with his friends Sam and Ruby searching for another powerful artifact held within an emerald casket.  Can Gerald find the emerald casket and the artifact before other corrupt users find it to exploit its power?

After failing to stop Sir Mason Green from escaping with the diamond artifact, Gerald, Sam, and Ruby were invited to India by some friends that they had met during their previous adventure.  Arriving in India, Gerald and his friends were greeted by Alisha, one of their friends.  Soon after, when Gerald was exploring the market with everyone else, Alisha was kidnapped.  Can Gerald, Sam, and Ruby rescue Alisha from the kidnapper when they are constantly being pursued by a deadly cult focused on Alisha’s demise?

Before his great aunt died, Gerald was just another kid living in Australia.  After her death, Gerald was one of the richest people in the world.  After getting to England, Gerald found a letter written by his aunt that predicted her death.  This letter pulled Gerald into a web of intrigue that ended with Sir Mason Green escaping with a valuable and dangerous artifact.  Can Gerald prevent the evil Sir Mason Green from getting another powerful artifact before it is too late?

I would recommend “The Emerald Casket” to people who like action and adventure.  This was a very good book and kept me entertained for its duration.  It was quite engrossing and I couldn’t put it down until I finished it.  The book was very well written and you could just pick it up and read it without having read the first one.  “The Emerald Casket” is the second book in a trilogy and I can’t wait to read the next one.
