“New Moon” is the follow-up to “Twilight,” and starts out with Bella and Edward living their happy lives together. Things are going smoothly until what seems like an innocent mishap puts Bella in danger with Edward’s own family. After this Edward begins to think and grows distant and that worries Bella. Bella wonders if things will ever get back to normal when Edward announces his and his family’s departure. Edward is thorough and wants to leave no trace, as if he never existed, hoping Bella will get over it with time.

Months go by and Bella becomes more zombie-like when an incident out with a friend has her hallucinating that she hears a familiar voice. Bella tries to figure out the key to her hallucination while building back a relationship with an old friend. Bella is finding that she feels happier, and also confused, about her feelings, wondering why the one friend that brings her joy is suddenly very distant, when she finds herself in serious trouble. Being hunted by old enemies and with Edward nowhere to be found Bella panics.

With the discovery of more secrets, Bella gets sucked back into dangerous yet familiar surroundings. With the arrival of a visitor, Bella finds out that Edward is in danger and to save him it may cost her own life. She feels she must make a difficult choice between the two people she cares for deeply. Also, the subject of Bella becoming a vampire (that was discussed in the first book) is finally decided upon.

My opinion of “New Moon” is that it is amazing. The author knows how to pull you into the story and relate to the character. Her details bring the story to life. I love the fact that even though she is introducing new characters and giving others a better background and solid place in the story, she has not forgotten the original characters. This book actually reads as a continuation of the first and not just a second part or a new story.
