“Pidgy’s Surprise” is about a girl named Cindy and her pony Pidgy. The problem was that Cindy always wanted a horse, not a pony. Pidgy always acts like a clown! Cindy used to love her, but when she started having these dreams about horses, Pidgy was out of her picture. Every morning she asks her mom and dad if she can get a horse but they always say, “No hun, you already have Pidgy.” When Cindy hears about the Country Horse Show, she gets too nervous and tells her friend that she is getting a horse to show at the show this week. Now she is afraid that her friend might remember that she said she was getting a horse and shows up only bringing Pidgy. The week has passed and the Country Horse Show has started. When Cindy’s group for ponies is called up, Pidgy stole the show! She followed all the commands and obeyed her master. But when a little boy sticks a lollypop out of the gate, Pidgy stopped and startled the little boy causing him to cry and scream. A woman walked up to him and asks, “Are you okay? Did the bad pony bite you?” Luckily she did not bite him, but Pidgy loses the round. The next time her group is called up, Pidgy again stole the show! She did so well, she won the blue ribbon! Cindy was very excited. Her pony had won first place! Cindy was so excited, that she rode Pidgy all the way home. The rest of the story will surely surprise you.

I liked “Pidgy’s Surprise” a lot. I really like horses and every time I see a horse I wish I could ride one. This story will teach you a lot about horses and how they can act and how you can train them. Kids of all ages would love to read this book to hear the loving story of Pidgy and Cindy.
