In “Gift of the Magpie” there are two birds, named Max and Regina.  They are supposed to fly around and yell out what they find for food.  Regina really likes shoes though and she likes to go looking for them instead.

Max really likes Regina and he finds a shoe for her but she doesn’t want it.  Then he looks for days and days for another shoe for her and finds a big basketball shoes with goo dripping off of it.  She says that he is embarrassing her and he gets sad and leaves.  She gets sad then too because I think she misses Max.  I liked how the book ends though.

I think girls would like this book since they like things like shoes and stuff.  My favorite part of “Gift of the Magpie” was when Max is chewing bubblegum in the beginning of the book and blows bubbles out of his nose.
