Children love and need Bible stories. They are never too young to begin to study and understand what the Bible teaches. This is a book of poems and each tells the story of a different Bible character. Following the poem are several questions that reinforce the message taught in the poem.

Bible Stories were part of my childhood. They stayed with me. When I was old enough to read I’d pull out my Bible Stories Book and read the Old Testament stories to myself over and over again. Today I’m reading those same stories to my grandchildren. I’ve decided that I will include this book in my library of books that my grandchildren will listen to. Children like poetry, especially when it is understandable and tells a story.

“Deborah

Deborah was a lady judge;
Called by God to keep the peace,
Holding court beneath a tree,
Helping all disputes to cease.

Deborah was a lady leader;
This is what the Bible says,
Directing man and armies too,
According to God’s ways.

Deborah was a lady singer;
Singing to the Lord above,
Making music to her God,
With devotion, praise and love.

Deborah was a lady prophet;
Leading her country at the time,
When Heaven sent the stars to save,
Israel from the enemy’s crime.
Deborah was a lady of God;
Obedient in every way,
Prayful, courageous, a servant, she was
And loved until today.”

Poems like the one above tell the story of the Bible in a way that young children can understand and yet older children will stay interested. “Color God Love” is beautifully written. Rev. Lil is a very talented writer, her love for the Lord and for children shine through in her poetry. I truly like this book. My grandchildren love to hear me read the poems to them. The words open dialogue in such a way that it leads to discussion. The cover is beautifully done and is very appropriate for what delights lay inside. Well done Rev. Lila! It is with great honor that I highly recommend “Color God Love” to Christian parents and grandparents. All children regardless of religion will enjoy the wonder that lies inside the cover of this book.
