Rune Warriors: Ship of the DeadJames Jennewein & Tom S. Parker
“Rune Warriors: Ship of the Dead” is about five warriors trying to free their Valkyrie friend from her duties by making a deal with the goddess Skuld. When Skuld makes a deal for the warriors, they must kill a draugr named Thedrek the Terrifying. The warriors must find a special blade to kill a draugr. But when Thedrek steals the blade, Thedrek captures the warriors and brings them to the underworld in a huge draugr ship called, The Ship of The Dead. Reaching the underworld was a hard journey for Dane and his friends. They had to travel through massive oceans, dark caves, the rotting odor of draugrs, and when they reached the underworld, The Lake of Fire. The Lake of Fire is where doomed souls go. Dane and his friends must find a way to get back the blade from Thedrek. If they don’t stop Thedrek in time, their village could be doomed! After passing The Lake of Fire, Dane and his friends get docked onto shore and start walking towards the keeper of the underworld’s castle, the bad goddess, Hel. When Dane and his friends show up at Hel’s castle, she is surprised to see living humans and not draugrs. Thedrek and Hel are planning to sail the Ship of The Dead back to earth and rule it. Also, Hel is the daughter of the good god, Odin. Hel seeks revenge on Odin for sending her here with such lazy and smelly servants. Dane and his friends soon find a way of how to get out of the underworld. They must sneak out of Hel’s castle and get back to their village in the Ship of The Dead without Hel or Thedrek seeing. When Dane and his friend get aboard the ship, Thedrek tries to kill them with the blade. But right before Thedrek swung the blade, he started to die. Then Dance picked up Thedrek and threw him into The Lake of Fire so their village was saved! After Dane and his friends get back their village, Skuld lets their Valkyrie friend go and live back in her village. I really, really, really liked “Rune Warriors: Ship of the Dead” because it has lots of action and excitement! Now I want to read all of the Rune Warriors series books! |
