“Mary’s Holiday Story” is about a Princess named Mary. In just two days, she would get to go to the Twelfth Night. Mary was so excited; she had never been to Twelfth Night before. Her parents said she was always too young. Twelfth Night is when people celebrate the night when the three kings arrived to see baby Jesus. On Twelfth Night, there was a servant chosen to be Lord of Misrule, the King for the night. When a stable boy named Thomas was chosen to be Lord of Misrule he had gone missing, Mary and her friends go searching for him.

Mary thought since Thomas was a stable boy, she would check the stables. When Mary gets to the stables, she finds two clues, a leather star and a wood star with The Lord of Misrule mask. One of Mary’s friends said “I think I know where he might be. You found a leather star, and a wood star. Wood comes from trees and the only place where trees are in the castle is the garden.”  Mary and her friends split up in the garden and started searching for Thomas. When Mary hears a noise, she sees that Thomas was hiding behind a tree. Mary asked Thomas why he ran away and he said “I thought I would make a fool as Lord of Misrule.” Mary talked to Thomas to explain that no one can make a fool as a Lord. Thomas then agreed to be Lord of Misrule. Twelfth Night was saved! Look for more surprises in the end.

I liked this book better then the other Medieval Maidens book because this story was more fun to read and more exciting. I liked the small sketches in the book even though there was only a few and they were in pencil, they were still cool drawings. I hope other kids will like “Mary's Holiday Story” just as much as I did.
