Cayden’s comments:

“This book was about a girl going to her first day of school.  She really didn’t want to go.  Her name is Spice.  The book says “The Adventures of Cinnamon & Spice” but I don’t really know who Cinnamon is because it didn’t say.  I think it might be the girl in her class though that sits next to her.  They didn’t say her name though.

I liked that the book rhymed and it was good how she saw school wasn’t bad after all.  The cover was hard to read.  I had a hard time finding what the title was because there were lots of words on the cover and they were kind of hard to read.”

Parent’s comments:

While the book “First Day Blues (The Adventures of Cinnamon & Spice)” had a good message, I do agree with my son about the cover.  It was quite cluttered and the fonts and colors made it difficult to read.  The book could also have benefited from further editing.  One such instance of this is when the main character is in line waiting to go into school.  At this point, the text reads:  “There were so many people my heart starting thumping.” (p.12)  Overall, I think that the price tag on the back cover of $16.99 is a little steep for the small soft cover book.
