The WindSinger: Friendship sometimes has a price.Peggy Harkins
“The WindSinger” by Peggy Harkins is the story of James Braden, a twelve-year-old boy who has a great secret. When James was three, he and his family went on a picnic. While playing, James tripped and hit his head on a rock. For three days he was lost. When he finally appeared, he was miles from the place he had been. During his disappearance, he met the WindSinger, a creature tasked with caring for Nature and its denizens. This was the reason for his secret. James never told his secret to another living soul until he found that Z’Nia, the WindSinger, needed his help. When James was twelve a circus came to town. He and his friend Matt went to see the circus set up. They got a job distributing posters advertising the circus’ Bigfoot. When James saw the picture, his blood ran cold. Was Z’Nia the Bigfoot in the poster? He needed to find out. That night, James and Matt slipped away toward the circus cages and heard a circus worker headed toward the Bigfoot cage. After a long heart-pounding moment, the worker dropped some food in the cage and left. The moment he left, James got a good look at the creature crouching in the cage. It was Z’Nia! Will James and his friend be able to free Z’Nia? I would recommend this book to people who like escape and action stories. “The WindSinger” was a fun book with a good amount of suspense. It was a fast read and I finished it the day I started it.
